HIGH PROFILE ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL AND MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER RELY ON OUR TEAM TO TREAT THEIR TEAMS.

The renowned physicians at Active Orthopedics and Sports Medicine are well known for treating high caliber professional athletes. And that same knowledge, expertise, experience and compassion also goes into treating everyone from school age children to weekend warriors to players in old timer leagues.

As we all know, sports medicine can encompass a wide variety of injuries and ailments from simple sprains and strains to muscle weakness; from joint instability to fractures and broken bones; from torn cartilage to torn ligaments; and these injuries can also lead to adverse effects on many other parts of an athlete’s body.

At Active Orthopedics, we treat all of these and more. We understand that early and effective treatment of even the simplest injury can help prevent recurrence or worsening as time goes on. We also stress injury prevention and physical conditioning to enhance athletic performance and quality of life.

Our sports medicine physicians are experts in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries suffered during athletic activity. Dr. Michael Gross is the Chief of the Division of Sports Medicine and the Orthopedic Director of The Sports Medicine Institute at Hackensack University Medical Center. Dr. Vazquez has particular proficiency in advanced arthroscopic procedures including the shoulder, elbow, and hip. Dr. Benke specializes in various areas including cartilage restoration, orthopedic trauma and joint replacement and reconstruction.

As with any sports team, our physicians work together to help the patient regain maximum use of the injured limb or joint. Other “players” on the team can include rehabilitation specialists, athletic trainers and physical therapists as well as the patient him/herself.
