Ira Esformes, MD
Dr. Esformes graduated from New York University with bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and received his medical degree from Albany Medical College. He specializes in the practice of general orthopedics, sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, total joint replacement, and reconstructive surgery.
He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Board Certified in Sports Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is also a member of the Bergen County Medical Society, The New Jersey Medical Society, New Jersey Orthopaedic Society, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
He completed his surgical internship and residency at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York. At the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases, Dr. Esformes served his orthopedic surgery residency and was named as chief orthopedic resident. He was also Chief of Orthopedics at Hackensack University Medical Center at Pascack Valley from 2013-2015.
He was awarded an Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation Grant for his research in tendon healing and holds a patent for an artificial elbow. Dr. Esformes was one of the first doctors in Bergen County to perform an allograft meniscal transplant. Castle Connolly lists Dr. Esformes as one of the “Top Doctors” in the New York Metropolitan Area.
Dr. Esformes was the Chief of Orthopedics at HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley from 2013-2015 and is now the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at HUMCPV 2016 to present. He also has privileges at HackensackUMC in Hackensack, HackensackUMC at Mountainside in Montclair, Valley Hospital in Ridgewood and Hudson Crossing Surgical Center in Fort Lee.
