Dr. Vazquez is a native of northern New Jersey where he attended Queen of Peace High School and was the captain of the varsity tennis team. He completed his undergraduate education at Cornell University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Neurobiology and Behavior. He attended John Hopkins University where he was awarded his Doctor of Medicine in 2003.

Dr. Vazquez has served as the team physician for many of the University of Southern California’s collegiate teams and is currently the head team physician for Stevens Institute of Technology and St. Thomas Aquinas. He also serves as a ring side doctor for USA boxing and golden gloves.


He continued his studies at New York University/Hospital for Joint Diseases, where he was a Resident from June 2003 to June 2008. After finishing his Residency, Dr Vazquez received specialty training in Sports Medicine and Shoulder & Elbow Surgery as a Fellow at the University of Southern California studying under Dr. James Tibone and Dr. John Itamura. He also received specialized training in hip arthroscopy under Jason Snibbe, MD. As assistant team physician for the University of Southern California, he worked with athletes in a wide range of endeavors from football to tennis and golf addressing their unique needs and expectations. He is the author of numerous research studies and papers detailing the treatment of a variety of sports injuries and is board certified in orthopedics.

Dr. Vazquez has privileges at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, Hudson Crossing Surgical Center in Fort Lee, HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley in Westwood and HackensackUMC at Mountainside in Montclair as the Chief of Orthopedics.


He has particular proficiency in advanced arthroscopic procedures including the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. In addition to fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine, he also has specific subspecialization in shoulder and elbow surgery including trauma, ligament reconstruction, and arthroplasty including revision. He also has training in the latest techniques of hip preservation using arthroscopic techniques such as labral repair and impingement correction surgery.
